Scientists from the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences (FÚ AV) have developed a prototype of micro-chip capable of storing data 1,000x faster than currently used computer memories. The components may be used in the future in electronics e.g. in Internet of Things or smart cities, Hospodářské noviny notes. Leading chip producer Intel has expressed interest in the micro-chip. Japanese Hitachi, which has been collaborating with the Czech scientists since 2004, has a preferential right for the potential exploitation of the discovery, though.
