Solar power in Australia is a growing industry. Rising electricity prices and blackouts mainly in South Australia are increasing investments in solar energy. Nowadays, the company Photon Energy is developing a plan of a solar power plant with an output of 316 MW on a plot of 590 hectars. This power plant would be the biggest solar power plant in New South Wales and it would be one of the largest PV projects in Australia. Construction could begin in 2019.

Photon Energy is a global solar power solutions and services company covering the entire lifecycle of solar power systems. The company was founded in 2008 in the Czech Republic and since then Photon Energy has built more than 50 MWp of solar power plants. The company has offices in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Australia.

The new solar power plant should be built near the city Gunning in NSW. The plan is currently going through the NSW government State Significant Development process. Photon Energy also negotiate the grid Connection Process with Transgrid, the local operator of the main high voltage transmission network. The development of the project will be supervised by the subsidiary Photon Energy Generation Australia Pty. Ltd.

In addition to this project, Photon Energy is currently working on developing other two large power plants in Australia with a total capacity of about 42 MW.
