Mission led by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Ing. Vladimír Bärtl, visited Canada in mid-April 2019. Czech aeronautical and space manufacturers were headed primarily to the Aeromart Montréal tradeshow, which is a key event for the industry in the area.
Tradeshow Aeromart Montréal, which hosted 800 firms and 1300 participants between April 16th and April 18th, created a platform for dozens of B2B meetings and negotiations for Czech companies, as well as, an opportunity to attend key workshops. The main theme of the tradeshow was the interconnection between aeronautical industry and artificial intelligence. This topic was also reflected by the additional activities during the Czech mission’s visit in Canada. The representatives of Czech administration negotiated with important Canadian players in the filed of AI including supercluster SCALE.AI, ELEMENT.AI or two institutions: MILA and IVADO. Canadian ecosystem of the artificial intelligence has been undergoing a rapid development in the last years and months.
Many other negotiations in the field of space technologies and other innovative sectors like the artificial intelligence took place during the visit. The Czech mission to Canada also presented the Innovation Strategy of the Czech Republic 2019 – 2030 to their foreign partners. Significant overlaps of technological trends and business opportunities proved that Canada is a very promising partner for the Czech Republic.
Another opportunity for cooperation with Canada appeared in the shape of Technological Agency’s and the Québec Consortium’s challenge in the DELTA 2 programme which should open doors to Czech-Canadian joint R&D projects this year. In support to Czech companies’ participation in the challenge, a seminar enabling them to team up with partners was held at the technical school of AÉROÉTS on April 18th 2019.
