Czech Railways (České dráhy) could buy up to 60 electric trains each for 240 passengers for regional transport.
The selection procedure for the contract is to be announced by ČD this year. The total amount of the contract would be about 10 billion CZK. ČD intends to apply for EU subsidies for this contract.
ČD has in use daily an average of 7,016 trains, which rides more than 120 million kilometers a year, and it is about 340,000 km a day.
ČD operates approximately with 4,300 vehicles and last year transported around 175 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 3.2 million.
Traditionally, people use mainly suburban and domestic long-distance trains.
