(News - Detail)

Date : 10.06.2008

The Czech Republic is becoming a European software development giant. 51 programming centers have been established in the country since 2000. Additionally, investors have pledged to employ more than 10,000 developers, the vast majority of whom are highly skilled expert with specialized education. Domestic companies have created 14 centers employing 2,410 people. The United States is in second place with 13 projects and plans to create 3,681 new positions. Great Britain is in a distant third, with five software centers.

Companies like IBM, Red Hat, Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, Honeywell, eBay and Skype build development centers in the country. Local companies are not being left behind either.
The Czech Republic is among the most attractive countries for IT investment, according to renowned consulting agencies. Last year the country was ranked by A. T. Kearney, the Economist Intelligence Unit and CIO Insight as the best place in Europe for IT companies.

According to European observers of Information Technology, the IT market in the Czech Republic is the most developed among new EU member countries. In 2006, IT expenditures represented 3.2 percent of GDP, while the average of old EU member countries was 2.72 percent. It is estimated that IT expenditures by companies, the public sector and households should exceed 80 billion Czech crowns in 2008.

IT development in the Czech Republic is an opportunity for Canadian companies not only for investments, but also for outsourcing of high quality services. In case of your interest please contact CzechTrade Toronto.
