The joint-stock company of Český porcelán Dubí is one of four producers of the original onion design in the world. The company continues in the tradition that dates back to 1864. The year 1885 was a turning point for the company as it started producing a full range of porcelain ware according to the Meissen design. Products of the late Baroque style with rococo style decoration using cobalt under glaze as in China have become and remained the core production program of the company.
Since the very beginning, the decorating has been known as onion design, and it is a combination of stylized vegetable motives in the background of East Asian philosophy, but being adjusted to European style and conception. The “onion design” stands for fragile beauty, it is a symbol of utility and pleasure of mind, a symbol of uniqueness and world repute.
The top quality and wide range is what makes the Český porcelán products popular in Europe but also in Japan or Korea.
