The production of pressed beads in Bohemia dates back to the 18th century. In the 1820´s an extensive development of this production occured in the Jablonec Region, when small glass works were established laying the foundation for jewellery manufacturing in the area.
Skleněná bižuterie, a.s. was founded in Alšovice in 1948 and is the largest producer of glass-pressed beads in the Czech Republic. With many years of tradition in the manufacturing of beads and jewellery, Skleněná bižuterie employs approximately 180 people including its own designers.
