Unemployment rate down to 3.8% in December 2017

Czech Republic had the lowest unemployment rate in the entire EU.

The share of unemployed persons in the Czech Republic dropped to 3.8% as of December 31, 2017, from 5.2% a year ago. Month-on-month, the share grew from 3.5%. The Labour Office has informed that it registered totally 280,620 job applicants in December, up 15,151 in November 2017 and down 100,753 on December 2016. The total from December 2017 is the lowest value since 1997 (268,902). Of all jobless persons, available applicants totalled 259,929. The no. of available job positions increased both month-on-month and year-on-year. Employers were offering 216,629 job positions through the Labour Office in December 2017. In international comparison, Czech Republic had the lowest unemployment rate in the entire EU.
