Transportation Services between Ireland and the Czech Republic

Transportation services between Ireland and the Czech Republic have been developing alongside business, tourism and cultural links. First direct service from Dublin to Prague has been established in 1997 by Czech Airlines and since than Aer Lingus, SmartWings and Jet2 airlines started to connect both countries.

Since 1993 trade volume has increased ten times and such a development led to growth of cargo transportation. Number of Czech, Irish and multinational companies provide (direct or indirect) truck, container and air logistics solution.

Trucks are connecting Czech Republic and Ireland via Germany and Belgium to French port of Calais where they cross the sea (channel) for the first time to arrive in Dover. Driving through England and Wales reaching Holyhead. Crossing the Irish Sea to Dublin port is last part of the route. It takes trucks up to three days and the distance between Prague and Dublin is approximately 1740 km.

In case of containers major European port are used to embark for Ireland. Frequently used port is Rotterdam, alternatives ports would be Hamburg and Szczetin (Poland). Containers from Czech Republic to Ireland travel for between 7 to 10 days.
