CRH opens new lab for plant DNA sequencing

The Haná Region Centre for Biotechnology and Agricultural Research (CRH) has built a new laboratory for DNA sequencing, ie reading hereditary plant information.

The opening ceremony took place on June 10 on the occasion of the opening of the Plant Biotechnology International Conference: Green for Good V. The dominant feature of the new laboratory is the high capacity DNA sequencer NovaSeq 6000 worth CZK 29m. The device has 400x the capacity of the most powerful sequencer available to Olomouc scientists. The laboratory will be able to obtain information that can, among other things, contribute to the breeding of crops important for human nutrition and which will have higher yields and resistance to diseases and adverse environmental effects.
