Metrostav has dug the Dýrafjördur tunnel in Iceland with the total length of 5301 m.

The company cooperates on the CZK 1bn project with Icelandic company Sudurverk. Metrostav has dug more than 23km of tunnels in Iceland since 2006. Metrostav’s Nordic projects manager Aleš Gothard has stated that following the final reinforcement of the tunnel with sprayed concrete and spikes, insulation against water and freezing will be installed. Totally 250m on each side of the tunnel will be insulated fully so that the structure cannot freeze.
