German wholesaler Makro will launch in the Czech Republic a pilot project of a central warehouse, informed daily Hospodářské noviny. The enterprise intends to test a new concept of shops and simplify the distribution to the shops and end customers. The warehouse, which will be built near Kralupy nad Vltavou, will cost CZK 1.5bn. The centre will be partially automated with help of robots in the value of CZK 500m and will employ about 600 people. If the new concept proves to be successful, the management intends to extend it to 25 European countries.
