The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) launched operations in the Ejpovice Tunnel.

 

The Railway Infrastructure Administration (SŽDC) launched operations in the Ejpovice Tunnel. The structure measuring 4,150 meters in length on route Rokycany – Plzeň is the longest tunnel in the entire SŽDC network. Trains will travel through it at a speed of 160 km/h with a possible future increase all the way to 200 km/h. The modernized segment is part of the trans-European transport network and lies on the western branch of 3rd transit rail corridor Prague – Plzeň – Cheb – state border with Germany. The investment construction costs total CZK 6.78bn. The trip from Prague to Plzeň will speed up by an average of nine minutes.
