The renewable energy resources are understood to be the inexhaustible and thus renewable resources which were, have been and will be existing. What can we practically imagine under this concept in our geographical latitudes? In our country can be exploited especially the following forms of energy:

  • Solar energy (exploited by solar collectors for production of heat or by photovoltaic panels for generation of electric power).
  • Hydropower (hydroelectric power stations, and previously, wind mills and hammer mills)
  • Wind energy (wind power plants, wind-driven pumps, sailing ships)
  • Biomass energy (combustion of wood waste, of straw and of wood chips, reprocessing of excrements into biogas, production of biofuels, etc.)
  • Geothermal energy (exploitation of earth heat by heat pumps).

In addition, all over the world we can also meet some more exotic forms of renewable energy: energy of see waves, energy of high (or low) tide, i.e. the action of tidal forces of the moon.

The renewable energy resources were already being exploited by our forebears; after all, in the ancient times of civilization they (fortunately) had no other option.

As a matter of fact, these resources cause no pollution of the environment, and this is the feature representing, together with their inexhaustibility, their maximum advantage.

Even burning up the biomass cannot be perceived as the pollution. The newly growing biomass (which is the prerequisite) keeps absorbing the produced emission substances, including a dangerous greenhouse gas of CO2. For this reason, burning up the biomass is being supported on the worldwide basis, and also in the Czech Republic, it represents the utmost potential out of the sources mentioned above.

Key reasons why to do business with the Czech Republic:

  1. Quality, experiences and tradition of manufacturing
  2. Skilled and well-educated labour force
  3. Strategic position in Central Europe
  4. Lower costs
  5. One of the most advanced transport infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe
  6. High innovation potential of Czech people
  7. Excellent business climate and strong economic growth

More information about the bioenergy and pellet sectors and production in the Czech Republic you can find in enclosed presentations from the conferences:

  • Bioenergy Sector in the Czech Republic – General Outlook, poster presentation, World Bioenergy 2006 conference, Tomas Rak, CzechTrade Sweden
  • Main Factors Influencing Manufacturers of Wooden Pellets in the Czech Republic, oral presentation, Pellets 2006 conference, Tomas Gebauer, Czech Biomass Team

CzechTrade represents on the fair several leading Czech companies from the area of production and utilizing of biomass, boilers and stoves for biomass and pelletizing and briquette making plants. Detailed information about the companies find below.

Much more information about the bioenergy sector and potential suppliers you can find on the Czech stand on WORLD BIOENERGY Conference & Exhibition 2006.
