A group of 11 businessmen, financials, scientists, and consultants have decided to form a Czech Engineering Holding. The primary focus is on high-tech & engineering companies, their development and innovation.

The holding is planning to support local companies with a pool of investment capital of up to 1 billion CZK ($45 million USD) over the next 2 years. The first investment has been made with the company Karned beeing acquired in July this year. Jiří Polman, co-founder, said, "As the name indicates, we want to focus primarily on engineering, which has a great tradition in the Czech Republic and we believe even greater future. There are many companies here we believe can be developed further."

Along with Mr Polman, there is a varied mix of people in the holding from various backgrounds, which gives them the advantage over the more traditional investment banks. The largest stake is held by the well-known financier and co-owner of RSJ Group, Libor Winkler, followed by stakes of two former KPMG Partners František Dostálek and Jan Žůrek and several entrepreneurs from various fields and Professor Vladimír Mařík, an expert on robotics.
