The Czech Republic’s industry production ranked as the 12th biggest among the EU members accounting for 2% of the overall EU manufacturing

The Czech Republic’s industry production ranked as the 12th biggest among the EU members accounting for 2% of the overall EU manufacturing, a director of the Czech Statistical Bureau Radek Matejka said. The overall industry production in the Czech Republic grew by 3% in 2018. Despite the growth was the slowest in last 5 years, the annual growth still ranked above the European average. According to Komercni Banka’s economist Monika Junicka, the slower growth in the 2018 was caused predominantly by the rapid slowdown of the German production in Q4. The main production decrease was recorded in the Czech auto industry. In contrast, the production of electrical and optical devices in the Czech Republic increased by 13.7% in 2018.  Alongside with the overall industrial production’s growth, the Czech construction industry grew as well. In 2018, it grew by 8%.
