SOLEK HOLDING plans to build up to 70 small-scale solar power plants with a capacity of up to 150 MW in Cyprus by the end of 2024. It has currently started construction of the Athienou plant. Group CEO Zdeněk Sobotka said that by 2022 SOLEK could become an alternative electricity supplier. The company aims to make the Cypriot energy market greener. The group is working with on the island e.g. with Finnish energy storage technology firm Flexens. SOLEK is developing its activities primarily in Chile, where it plans to complete projects with a capacity of over 500 MW within two years.
