Czech Railways transported four million more passengers in the first three quarters of this year compared to last year. There were 137.5 million customers. The railways reported that it was 137,5 million customers in total. About four out of ten customers also took the advantage of discounts paid by the state. The state initially considered to pay the full fare to students under 26 and seniors and is trying at the moment to cope with the rising cost of discounts by setting a limit above which the fare will not be reimbursed. The year-on-year growth in the number of passengers is 3 % and state discounts covered roughly a half of this.
