LIBERTY
Steel has leased the Polish metallurgical company Huta Czestochowa. At the same
time, it resumed production and rolled the first thick steel sheets produced at
the LIBERTY steelworks in Ostrava. Until the middle of 2021, Corween
Investments leased the
Polish
smelter from the insolvency administrator and will rename it to LIBERTY Czestochowa.
LIBERTY is also preparing to buy the smelter in accordance with the procedure
set by the court. By acquiring a company capable of producing up to 0.7 million
tonnes of steel per year in its electric arc furnace and up to 1.2 million tonnes
of thick sheets in the rolling mill, the LIBERTY Group will strengthen its
position in the European green steel sector.
