Non-cash payments have become very popular recently in the Czech Republic. Czechs are increasingly using mobile payments along with contactless cards. More than half of regular mobile payment users pay whenever and wherever it is possible. They particularly appreciate the practicality, simplicity and speed of payments. According to a recent MasterCard survey, paying via mobile phone is quite common in the Czech Republic as almost third of Czechs use mobile payments in shops or restaurants not having their wallet with them and more than half of them (54 %) pay this way constantly. About a quarter of the respondents use mobile payments when shopping online from home. In addition to this, more and more banks are enabling their clients to use Google Pay and Apple Pay mobile services. According to the survey, half of mobile payment users have Google Pay on their phone while Apple Pay uses less than a quarter.
