From March 2020, Leoš Janáček Airport in Ostrava will have a new air connection with Warsaw. The Moravian-Silesian Region agreed on this with the Polish Airlines LOT, which will operate the route to the Polish capital city Warsaw. This creates links to up to 111 world destinations and the agreement with LOT is a breakthrough step for Ostrava Airport. LOT will fly from Ostrava to Chopin Airport five times a week, always on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The line will be operated by Bombardier Q400 and Embraer 170/175 aircraft with a capacity of 70 to 82 passengers. The Moravian-Silesian Region will support the new airline with 10 million CZK in the first years of operation as well.
