Retail revenues in the Czech Republic down a real 6.9 % in May

Retail sales showed a decline in all assortment groups of stores except for pharmaceutical, medical and drugstore goods

Retail sales in the Czech Republic in May 2022 decreased by 6.9 % y/y in real terms. They fell by 7.6 % for non-food goods, 6.3 % for food and 5.2 % for fuel. Jana Gotvaldová, head of the trade, transport and services statistics department of the Czech Statistical Office, said that retail sales showed a decline in all assortment groups of stores except for pharmaceutical, medical and drugstore goods. Motor vehicle sales and repair revenue fell 8.1 %. They decreased both for the sale of motor vehicles (including spare parts) and for repairs.
