Škoda Electric will begin, under
a contract for engineering company GE Wabtec, the delivery of a new series of
complete mechanical drives for locomotives, engines, gearboxes and wheelsets
for machines that will run on lines in Central Asian Kazakhstan in mid-2021.
The company said that the nature of the climate and the terrain of the local
lines sometimes causes temperature fluctuations, where the locomotive must cope
with a temperature difference of 20 degrees Celsius in a short time. The
company now has parts for nine locomotives in production. The company also regards
the contract as an important reference.
