South Moravia will receive a European subsidy for a purchase of 37 trains from Škoda.

Representatives of the South Moravian Region approved the purchase of 37 trains from Škoda Transportation. The manufacturer's price offer is 6,65 billion CZK and includes the service of trains for the next 30 years. The region will receive a European subsidy of about 5,5 billion. In order for a region to receive a subsidy, all trains must be manufactured by 2022 at the latest. Any further delay would mean that the region will not receive a subsidy for trains produced after that date. The new electric trains should be running from 2023 on the lines from Brno to Tišnov, Blansko, Břeclav and Křenovice.
