The top management of the Volkswagen Group underwent a radical transformation at the recent Supervisory Board meeting. Group leader Herbert Diess has defended his position, but will lose some of his powers. The group's Chinese activities will be taken over by the current head of Volkswagen, Ralf Brandstätter, and his place will be taken by the current chairman of the board of management of Škoda Auto, Thomas Schäfer.
Hans Dieter Pötsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, confirmed, among other things, that Volkswagen will invest more in electromobility. The share of this area in total investments will rise from 50 percent to 56 percent. By 2026, Volkswagen will have invested around EUR 159 billion.
