According to the latest statistics released by the Czech Automotive Industry Association, there were 1 186 151 vehicles manufactured in the Czech Republic in 2020. This represents a significant drop compared to 2019 by 18.8%. Overall, companies in the Czech Republic manufactured 1 151 901 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (-19.2% compared to 2019), 5 070 buses (-2.8%), 553 motorbikes (-43.6%), 1 180 trucks (-0.1%) and 26 447 trailers and semi-trailers (+0,8%). ŠKODA AUTO maintained the largest share of the total production (65.0%), followed by Hyundai (20.7%) and TPCA (14.3%). Despite the largest production decrease in recent history, it is necessary to add that companies managed to cope with all the restrictive measures imposed by the Government and showed a high level of flexibility. Furthermore, automotive companies continued in the transformation changes required by the emission reduction targets set by the EU and also safety requirements.
