Czech company MIWA Technologies, a.s. won European Social Innovation Competition organized by the European Commission

MIWA Technologies, a.s., a Czech company that created a circular distribution and sale system for food and non-food products with reusable packaging won 2019 European Social Innovation Competition. The competition is organised by the European Commission and it awards companies that come up with a solution to the problems affecting European society. The main topic of this years’ edition was “Challenging plastic waste”. The solution of MIWA provides producers with standardized, smart reusable packaging that works with equipment supplied by MIWA to retailers. Thanks to the RFIC/NFC tags, the company can keep control of all packaging and materials circulation in the system. According to a full-fledged Life Cycle Assessment, the company is able to reduce the overall carbon footprint by 47-62%.
