Unemployment reached 4.2 %, is second lowest in the EU

Battling the covid-19 pandemic, the Czech Republic manages to keep its unemployment relativelly low.

As of March 31, 2021, the Labor Office of the Czech Republic (ÚP) registered a total of 306,616 job seekers, which is 4,847 fewer than in February and 80,938 more than a year ago. The share of unemployed persons fell m/m to 4.2 % from 4.3 %. In March 2020, unemployment reached 3 %. Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Jana Maláčová (ČSSD) stated that this year's March unemployment rate is the second lowest in the EU.
