As of September 30, 2020, the Labour Office of the Czech Republic (ÚP) registered 277,015 applicants. This was 2,063 down compared with August and 75,108 up compared with the same period of last year. It has been the highest figure recorded in September since 2017 when 284,915 people were looking for jobs. Out of the total number of unemployed people, some 257,355 were available. The share of unemployed people remained at 3.8% (August 2020: 3.8%, September 2019: 2.7%). Employers used ÚP to offer 316,658 vacant positions. Some 11,555 of them were in the framework of contracts outside regular employment, i.e. contracts on work activities and contracts on work.
