CZ LOKO works on combined-drive locomotives

CZ LOKO is working on several versions of new locomotives and some of their prototypes should appear on the market in 2022 and 2023. The company is thus reacting to the demands of customers who no longer desire purely diesel-fuelled locomotives. Therefore, the development is headed to combining electricity, batteries and combustion engines. The new locomotives will be called DualShunter 2000, EffiLiner 2000 and DualLiner 2000. The DualShunter 2000 model with an output around 2 MW will combine a combustion engine and equipment for riding under external traction. The EffiLiner 2000 concept with an output of almost 2,000 kW includes a diesel-electric drive and an additional battery with an equivalent output of 400 kW. The DualLiner 2000 locomotive will be capable of operation in 3 kV and 25 kV 50 Hz traction systems even from a combustion engine.
