The czech Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) is preparing an update of the State Energy Strategy. Emphasis is placed on strengthening the role of nuclear power (NPPs) and exploiting the potential of renewable energy sources (RES). The forthcoming amendment to the Energy Act will allow the creation of so-called energy communities for electricity sharing. Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela (for STAN) believes that the norm will change the Czech energy sector. He noted that the current record gas reserves represent a good starting position for next winter. As of March 21, 2023, domestic gas reservoirs are filled from ca. 51%. Last year, at the end of winter, it was less than 14%. The Czech Republic has managed to reduce gas consumption by 18.3% since September 2022 and 15% since the beginning of 2023.
