ECOFIN discusses reducing dependence on Russian energy

ECOFIN Council meeting discussed the economic impact of the war in Ukraine.

Czech Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS) discussed the economic impact of the war in Ukraine with his European counterparts at the ECOFIN Council meeting. The topic also included the tightening of international sanctions against Russia and the issue of reducing the EU's dependence on Russian oil and gas. Finance ministers also discussed the strengthening of the European Financial Architecture for Development (EFAD). The aim is to streamline and set up closer cooperation between the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, including with regard to possible EU financial assistance for the reconstruction of post-war Ukraine.
