The Czech government has approved a draft bill to restrict the
impact of selected plastic products and has sent it for approval by
the Czech Parliament. Consumption of such plastic products should
thus be roughly 1.77bn pieces per year lower. The Czech Ministry of
the Environment (MŽP) further stated that the ban of their launch on
the market was expected after July 1, 2021. The adherence to the
law will be inspected by the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, the
Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority, and regional
public-health offices. The law transposes the European directive
2019/904 into Czech legislation.
