The total annual volume that can be processed in the terminal is 3 M3. This will enable the Czech Republic to strengthen its energy security and reduce its dependence on Russian gas.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) in cooperation with ČEZ Group has secured for the Czech Republic a lease of a share of capacity in the floating LNG terminal under construction (with a total annual capacity of 8 billion cubic meters) in Eemshaven, the Netherlands. In recent days, ČEZ has also secured capacity for transporting the commodity to the Czech Republic. The total annual volume that can be processed in the terminal is 3 M3. This will enable the Czech Republic to strengthen its energy security and reduce its dependence on Russian gas by up to one third. The ministry further informed that the terminal is expected to be used after its launch scheduled for September 2022. In addition to ČEZ, it will also be used by other companies, such as Shell.
