The Czech company ERA will provide surveillance of air traffic over Latvia and beyond its borders

Czech producer of radars and surveillance systems ERA has secured a new contract in the Baltic States. With the newly installed Wide Area Multilateration System (WAM) in Latvia  it will monitor air traffic above the entire country and partially also over the Baltic Sea (+30 naval miles).

The delivery of the new WAM FIR Latvia system is a significant expansion of existing system WAM Riga, which ERA installed in the vicinity of the international airport in the capital city in years 2008-2011. ERA will supply 23 ground stations of its multisensor system combining Czech multilateration technology and ADS-B. Information from the new system will also be used by Liepaja International Airport and Lielvarde Air Force Base.
