The robots will identify, grasp and measure nuclear samples for decommissioning

Liberec Technical University with the Czech company ÚJV Řež developed a robot that can measure how much the reactor is still radioactive. Semi-autonomous robot will help to make decommissioning nuclear reactors faster and safer.

At present, Czech experts are beginning to communicate with nuclear power plants that might be interested in the device in the future. Director of Radioactive Waste Division and Decommissioning of Nuclear Research Institute Řež, Mr Radek Trtílek stated, that they are preparing cooperation with Slovakia, Italy or Great Britain.
