The turnover of Czech e-commerce market increased 31% year-on-year to CZK 83bn in the first half of 2020, according to Shoptet statistics. In terms of goods categories, electronics made up 32% of the total turnover. The highest increase in online sales, especially due to the coronavirus pandemic, was recorded by the food and beverages category (120%).
More significant increases applied to specific goods sub-categories. For instance, the turnover with regard to sales of disinfection was 3200% higher than last year. Online card payments totalled 32% and beat cash-on-delivery (31%), and more than one-half of the orders (53%) was made from mobile devices.
