The Czech Telecommunications Office will award radio frequencies in the 700 MHz and 3400–3600 MHz bands

On August 7, 2020, the Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ or CTU) launched a tender, in the framework of which it will award radio frequencies in the 700 MHz and 3400–3600 MHz bands to the winning bidders based on the results of the electronic auction phase. ČTÚ aims to support competition, ensure the efficient use of radio frequencies and support technological innovation and the development of future 5th generation networks.

The deadline for submitting an application to tender is September 30, 2020.

The Czech Telecommunication Office has also published a table with the settlement of comments received in the public consultation launched at the beginning of June this year.

According to the regulator, its aim is “to set competition, ensure the efficient use of radio frequencies and support technological innovation and the development of future 5th generation networks by setting the conditions of the tender. At the same time, the CTU will also support the future communication of crisis and security forces (PPDR communication) through the conditions of the auction”.

It adds that achieving these goals is based on a thorough evaluation of the public consultation.

Applications will be accepted until September 30. Successful bidders will receive an invitation to the auction part of the tender.
