MENDELU PHD student gets Selgen award for wheat testing
Nicole Frantová, a student at the Mendel University in Brno, has
proved in a dissertation test that winter wheat varieties maturing
later are more tolerant to drought than early ones. Until now,
research had suggested the opposite. This may be due to the fact
that in the Czech Republic, drought arrives in spring. She received
the Selgen Student Prize for her research. This year, the PhD student
also added maize and sorghum to her experiments with wheat.
