Unicorn Systems has implemented and put into operation a new dispatching system for the management of the Nemo Link undersea cable between the UK and Belgium.
Unicorn Systems company has successfully implemented the dispatch system for NemoLink HVDC interconnector – NemoLink Dispatch System (herafter NDS). The purpose of the solution to provide automated power instructions to HVDC C&P System considering daily nominations, interconnector capability and other constraints.
NDS is a based on Unicorn´s INCA product and it is web-based Java application. It is deployed as a clustered solution in two localities – Herdersbrug (BE) and Richborough (GB). NDS is integrated with externals systems.
The delivered INCA solution, based on daily nominations, inter-connector capacity and other constraints, determines the physical flows of energy and provides a number of support functions to dispatchers.
Nemo Link Ltd is an independent joint venture entity founded by National Grid Interconnector Holdings, a subsidiary company of the UK’s National Grid Plc, a major UK owner of electricity and gas infrastructure in UK, and the Belgian Elia Group, that operates transmission systems in Belgium and Germany.
Nemo Link Ltd will facilitate commercial energy trading beyond the interconnector’scommissioning date. The Nemo Link interconnector consists of subsea and underground cables connected to a converter station in each country - United Kingdom and Belgium, which will allow electricity to flow in either direction between the two countries. The converter stations will be located at Herdersbrug in Belgium and Richborough (Kent) in England. At each end, the interconnector is connected to the new 400kV AC substations that are constructed separately by the local Transmission System Operators.
