Czech Brewery losses in on-trade segment surpassed CZK 6bn
Pandemic safety measures and restrictions on restaurant
operations in 2020 caused large losses in the entire HORECA
segment. From the point of view of Czech breweries, y/y sales
losses in the on-trade segment, that is, in bars and restaurants,
exceed CZK 6bn. This follows from a new sector study by the Center
for Economic and Market Analysis (CETA), with the ratio between
beer sales in the on-trade and off-trade segments reaching 35 % to
65 % in 2019. In 2020, on-trade fell to 26 %.
