Czech Technical University in Prague (ČVUT) and GE Aviation Czech are testing the use of special synthetic fuel SAF, which could replace traditional fossil fuel in the future. The university and the company signed a declaration on further cooperation at the International Engineering Fair, fair organiser Veletrhy Brno reported. The researchers want to demonstrate the properties of the GE Catalyst engine using SAF in their test facilities. The engine has fully integrated control, higher availability and 20% lower consumption and CO2 emissions. Twelve of its parts are manufactured on a 3D printer. The engine and SAF combination is now being tested by a test aircraft that has logged more than 1,300 hours.
