ŠKODA AUTO develops manipulation robot, runs in Vrchlabí
ŠKODA AUTO has developed a handling system for smart handling.
The robot uses advanced algorithms to evaluate the 3D camera
images. It picks up and places the forged shafts of seven-speed
direct-shift gearboxes in position. It handles around 50,000 raw
parts per day. The system was installed in series operation at the
Vrchlabí plant 11 months after the feasibility study. Here, more than
2,300 DQ200 (DSG) gearboxes are produced daily. The automaker
plans to expand the smart handling principle to other areas of
