Gov’t to propose capping electricity and gas prices

The government of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) proposes capping electricity and gas prices for households, tradesmen and entrepreneurs.

Therefore, it will submit to the Parliament a proposal for amendments to the Energy Act and the Act on the powers of the authorities of the Czech Republic in the area of prices. P. Fiala said that the price of power electricity per kilowatt hour will be capped at CZK 6 including VAT and gas at CZK 3. Public service providers, such as municipalities, schools, hospitals and social welfare institutions, will also purchase energy at the same price. Energy will be supplied to them by a supplier designated by the state.
