While exports are expected to show a year-on-year decline of around 6% for March 2022, the next five months could be marked by a slight improvement, but not a reversal of the adverse trend.

Raiffeisenbank's chief economist Helena Horská said this during the presentation of the Export Index (IE), adding that for 2Q 2022 the sector's decline could ease to -2 to -3.2%. Meanwhile, the performance of exports will be dampened by persistent complications in the industry. Otto Daněk, vice-chairman of the Association of Exporters, clarified that the main problem is not the lack of orders and the lack of workers, but whether there will be enough to produce from.
