Investments in new Dukovany unit to reach up to CZK 160bn

The construction of a new unit in the ČEZ Group’s Dukovany nuclear power plant should start in 2029 and the investment should be concluded in 2036.

After a meeting of the committee on the construction of new nuclear power sources, this information was provided by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO), adding that a zoning decision should be issued, and a tender should be announced in 2021. The contractor should be known by the end of 2022. The share of nuclear energy should increase from the current 30% to 40% in 2040. ČEZ board chairman Daniel Beneš said that the total investment was estimated between CZK 140bn and 160bn. The Group has received a positive verdict in an EIA procedure and is currently working on a request for bids. Beneš expects up to five bids.
