The Senate has approved the government's package against rising fuel prices, which includes, in particular, the abolition of the road tax on cars, buses, and trucks up to 12 tonnes and the abolition of the compulsory blending of bio-components into fuels.

Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (ODS) estimates that the road tax will have a budgetary impact of roughly CZK 4.2bn per year, which will remain in the pockets of small and medium-sized businesses. The abolition of the obligation to add bio-component to diesel will lead to its cheaper price by CZK 1.5 to 2 per litre. The package also includes tax measures to support electromobility.
