ŠKODA AUTO plans to cancel shifts in production throughout September 2021, the magazine Škodovácký ODBORÁŘ reported, citing a shortage of chips and other parts as the reason.

The situation will be difficult at all three domestic plants, i.e. in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Vrchlabí. However, most shifts will be cancelled in Kvasiny in week 36. In addition, there will be no mass overtime or flexi-shift arrangements. Jaroslav Povšík, chairman of the KOVO Trade Union Enterprise Council, added that an acute threat in the production of PHEV batteries had been averted, where it was considered to end the 20-shift system and switch to a 15-shift system.
