The Czech government is working towards greener future.

The Czech government has taken into account the recommendation of the Coal Commission on gradually phasing down coal by 2038. The Commission should continue working on decarbonising the Czech Republic and elaborate on and evaluate conditions, tools and impacts of an earlier coal exit on the national energy sector. A total of CZK 355bn will be invested in new sources by 2050. By the end of 2021, the Commission will also prepare a schedule of the phasedown for individual types of sources. It will propose necessary regulatory and legislative tools. Czech Chamber of Commerce president Vladimír Dlouhý said the Chamber was prepared to contribute to the definition of conditions for phasing down the use of coal in the energy sector.
