Czech Republic: Inflation slowed down to 17.2%, gas price up 61.4%

The Czech Statistical Office published consumer prices changes.

Consumer prices rose 17.2% y/y in August 2022, 0.3pp less than in July. The data were published by the Czech Statistical Office. The slowdown in price growth occurred mainly in the transport section, where the price of fuel and oil (FOG) moderated to 28.3% (43.6% in July). Electricity and natural gas rose by 34.6% and 61.4%, respectively. Prices of goods rose by 19.6% in aggregate and prices of services by 13.5%. According to preliminary Eurostat data, the year-on-year change in the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices in the EU27 was 9.8% in July, up 0.2 pp m/m.
